Country’s largest processor of fruits and vegetables, Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd (JISL) announced that it has won an order worth Rs 270 million (27 crore) to supply dehydrated onions to Europe in the calendar year 2009.
While commenting on this, Mr. Ashok Jain (Vice chairman, Jain JISL) said, "This is the single largest order for our dehydrated onion and vegetables division. We have developed high-solid onion varieties, which are helping Indian farmers to produce more and in turn allowing us to give what the International market expects."
Eminent economist and Nobel laureate Prof Amartya Sen has asked the
Union government to provide primary health care facilities to people,
particularly those coming from economically weaker sections of society.
Prof Sen said that the policymakers need to be more responsive towards
the common people. He also asked the state government to allocate more
funds for the district hospitals to improve primary health care
