‘Rab Ne Bana di Jodi’ starring the versatile actor Shah Rukh Khan has continued its successful run at the Box Office in the second week, crossing the gross Rs 30 crore mark for second two.
A Yash Raj Films spokesperson informed, “After grossing a record breaking Rs 90 crore in its first week worldwide, the film has crossed beyond a phenomenal Rs 30 crore gross in its second week. This is by far the highest collection, even surpassing 'Dhoom 2' and 'Chak De India', both of which did outstanding business in their second week.”
Master batsman, Sachin Tendulkar today supported the government's decision to call off India's cricket tour to Pakistan, following the terror attacks in Mumbai last month. Tendulkar, who is on vacation at the hill resort Mussorie, with wife Anjali and two children, appreciated the government's decision as the incident of the loss of lives was immensely painful and of greater importance than cricket. About 173 persons lost their lives in the terror strike in the country's financial capital.
Punjab and Haryana High Court had directed that only the Heads of State, including the Chief Minister, Speaker and the Chief Justice were entitled to the escort vehicles. This would require about 50 police personnel and shall be made available from Mohali police station. ADGP handed a list of around eight persons from whom the security shall be withdrawn.
India's largest steel maker Tata Steel is forced to extend the deadline for commissioning the first phase of its steel plant in Vietnam. The project has been delayed due to the problems with land acquisitions in the special economic zone where large number of companies are setting up their projects.
Cholamandalam DBS is planning to raise Rs 300 crore by subscribing 10 million convertible shares of EID Parry, Coromandel Fertilizer Ltd. & DBS Bank. The shares would have the face value of Rs 100 and these would be converted into liquid stake within 18 months as per filing by the company to the stock exchange.
