Infosys Technologies, India's second largest software services exporter, reported that the company was able to earn consolidated net profit of Rs 1,641 crore for the Q3 that ended December 31, 2008 as against Rs 1,231 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago.

A release which was issued to BSE today by Infosys, said, “The Q3FY09 topline has increased 35.5% to Rs 5,786 crore from Rs 4,271 crore in Q3FY08, beating the recession blues which is clouding the global businesses.”

Tata Group Company Tata Power announced that it is planning set up of a geothermal power plant and a solar power plant of 5 MW each at a suitable location in Gujarat. If the plans are successful, then the renewable energy portfolio of the company would get stronger by this move.

In a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange, the company said, “Tata Power has entered into an agreement in this regard with the Gujarat government to explore the possibility of setting up a 5 MW geothermal power plant in phase I.”

All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) has called off eight day long transporters strike on Monday. The transport strike crippled the entire nation with adverse impact on supply of essential commodities and services. ‘Blackberry Storm’ was launched on Monday by Telecom operator Vodafone Essar in India. Storm is the premier touchscreen phone, which has been developed by the company exclusively with Canada-based technology provider Research In Motion (RIM).

Vodafone Essar Director Marketing and New Business Harit Nagpal reported, “The market for smartphones in India is at a very nascent stage and growing rapidly. ‘Blackberry Storm' takes the 3G experience a step forward.”

Johnny Wright, Britney Spears' former music manager, is of opinion that the popstar is not prepared for a comeback and is being forced into it.

"A comeback is not what I wish for Britney. What I wish for her is to settle down and find real happiness," Wright told OK! Magazine.

"All her essential relationships have been torn apart. She's been divorced twice, she doesn't have custody of her kids, she's being pushed back into being a money machine," Wright said.
