A Cabinet meeting headed by PM Prachanda said that Nepal has detected its first bird flu case of the season.

While speaking on this, Nepal’s agriculture Minister, Jai Prakash Prasad Gupta stated, “The virus has been found in chicken and ducks. We have confirmed it is H5N1 virus.”

The minister informed the media persons that the deadly H5N1 bird flu was reported in poultry from the southeast Nepal town of Kakarvitta, bordering India.

Ranbaxy Laboratories CEO Malvinder Singh said that due to an import ban by the US authorities, his firm may shift some generic drug production from India to the US.

"We will transfer (production of) some products from India to America. Also, we are looking at making some acquisitions of manufacturing assets," said Mr Singh, at a media reception held by Japanese drugmaker Daiichi Sankyo.

Dada aka the Cricket legend Sourav Ganguly is all set to receive a one-kilogram gold bat at a Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) felicitation programme on Sunday. The cost of the bat is expected to be around Rs 25 lakh. The gold bat has Ganguly's cricketing records embossed on it.

Speaking on this, Jagmohan Dalmiya, CAB President said, “It will be a totally cricket-centric function. So, there will be no cultural programmes.”
