Idea launches 3G phone for Rs 4,999 with data benefits

The country's third largest operator has already sold over 7 lakh devices from its earlier range of 3G smartphones.

"Idea is the only mobile operator in the country to offer a vast array of affordable 3G devices which is targeted at upgrading 2G users to 3G. With the launch the new device, Idea's portfolio of 3G smartphones has gone up to 16, and the company has already sold over 7 lakh devices from its earlier range," Idea Cellular said in a statement.

The new Fiesta will directly take on Honda City and Hyndai Verna and is priced Rs 67,000 to Rs 1.7 lakh lower than the competition, depending on the variant.

The 2014 Ford Fiesta will be available in three options ? Ambiente, Trend and Titanium, all powered by 1.5 litre diesel engine, the company said in a statement.

Available in two sizes of 10.5 and 8.4 inches, these are the company's thinnest and lightest tablets to date.

The tablets will be available for sale in the US in July and will be priced at USD 399 for the smaller model and USD 499 for the larger one.

This is for the first time that Merc is introducing the diesel variant of its popular S Class models. Besides, the company also commenced generation from its 100-kw rooftop solar plant at the Chakan facility, which will produce 1.50 lakh units of power annually.

Isuzu Motors enters north India, launches new vehicles

"North is an important region for us, contributing to approximately 30 percent of the total pickup sales in the country," said Takashi Kikuchi, managing director, Isuzu Motors India.

"We are observing a gradual shift from small commercial vehicles to pick-ups, which is one of fastest growing segments in commercial vehicles (CV), accounting for 35 percent of the total CV market."

Philips re-enters India mobile phone market

"We are entering into the market again with a whole range of feature and smart phones that we believe serves all the categories of clients. We will be launching two new phones by next month that will take our range to about Rs. 35,000," S. S. Bassi, country manager India, Overseas Sales, Shenzhen Sangfei.

According to CNET, LG's latest smartphone is packed with new features to help it stand out against other Androids.

The G3 is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 2.46 m processor , with 2GB RAM for its 16GB built-in storage variant, and 3GB of RAM for its 32GB variant.

The phone runs on a 3000mAh battery, and supports wireless charging via optional charger.

"The new ML 63 AMG sets new standards in terms of performance, exclusivity, efficiency and a superlative driving experience," said Eberhard Kern, managing director and chief executive, Mercedes-Benz India.

According to the company, the new vehicle is powered by a 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine, which develops a peak output of 410 kW and maximum torque of 760 Nm.

The tablet will be available in stores on May 4.

According to Tech Crunch, the Z2 packs an impressive 10.1 inch display, sports a 8MP camera, front-facing speakers and 3GB of RAM paired with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC (System On Chip) running at 2.3 GHz.

The new addition is thinner and faster than the last year released, Z1 and is being seen as Sony's attempt to stabilize the crumbling brand.

Fonepad-7New Delhi, April 15 : Consumer notebook company ASUS Tuesday launched a new variant of its dual SIM Fonepad 7 combination of mobile phone and tablet priced at Rs. 12,999.

"With our Fonepad series we expect to gain significant share of the market. Our target is to reach around 10 percent of the tablet market in India this year," Peter Chang, regional head - South Asia and country manager - system business group - ASUS India told IANS.

The company's share in the market currently stands at between three and five percent.

Amazon preparing to launch Kindle smartphone: report

Amazon Kindle phoneAfter gaining a considerable share of the global tablet market, Amazon is preparing to introduce a smartphone of its own, according to a fresh report published in the Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

Citing anonymous sources, the WSJ reported that Amazon recently demonstrated versions of its purported Kindle smartphone to developers in its hometown Seattle and San Francisco.

The report added that the e-commerce giant has plans to introduce the smartphone by July and start shipping it by the end of September this year.
