The country’s leading private air-carrier, Kingfisher Airlines, has decided to cut fares across its network from January 1.
The fare-cut is expected to be in the range of 12–15%. However, the company did not specify the quantum by which fares would come down.
It may be noted that Civil aviation minister Praful Patel had repeatedly asked the airlines to pass on the benefit of sharp a drop in ATF prices to passengers.
For the last four months, a dramatic fall in ATF prices has been noticed.
Recent statistics by the Jammu and Kashmir police offers a hope of peace in Jammu and Kashmir in future. These statistics reveal that there was a drop of 40 percent in terrorism-related incidents as compared to last year.

Big Bazaar, the retail chain of the Kishore Biyani spearheaded Pantaloon Group, revealed its plans to open 48 new hypermarkets in Maharashtra in the next two years.
Presently, Big Bazaar has 103 hypermarkets in 62 cities across the country, including 23 in Maharashtra. The company has selected location to open hypermarkets in Ghatkopar, Malad and Solapur in Maharashtra.

Despite the global slowdown in the automobile sector, Anand Automotive Systems still plans to go ahead with the investment worth Rs 600 crore to set up 13 plants across the country by 2010.
The company accepts that the slowdown in the domestic automobile sector has put the group's bottom lines under pressure but said the company was confident that old export as well as domestic orders would help it tide over the current crisis.
