London, Nov 2 : Two sisters in England have beaten the odds by giving birth to sons in the same hospital within 45 minutes of each other.

Louise Bedford, 29, was preparing to have a Caesarean section at Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester when her sister, Lisa Reeve, 31, went into labor at home and was rushed to same hospital ward..

Shortly thereafter, Reeve gave birth to Jude, who weighed 7 pounds 5 ounces, while within the hour Bedford delivered Archie, who weighed in at 10 pounds.

Islamabad, Nov 2 : Former Pakistan premier Nawaz Sharif has said that the Pakistani government would lose public support if the US missile attacks on Pakistani soil continued.

In a written statement issued here last evening, he said that the government should initiate strategic dialogue with the United States instead of just protesting over the continued violations of the country’s territory by the US.

Islamabad, Nov 2 : Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the ongoing US’ air raids were “disastrous” in the eyes of the world, and that he would soon take up the matter with the US’ ambassador Anne Patterson.

Asking the world leaders to dissuade NATO and US forces from such incursions, Gilani said claimed that Afghan President Hamid Karzai had also assured him that he would take up the matter with NATO.

Guwahati, Nov 2 : The overall situation remained tense in Assam on Sunday even though a massive hunt is on by the security forces to apprehend the culprits involved in Thursday''s serial blasts at 12 places killing over 70 people and leaving over 300 injured.

People are still scared to move out to crowded places in the blast-hit Guwahati, Kokrajhar, Barpeta Road and Bongaigaon, according to reports.

Markets and other business activities remained almost closed since the incidents took place on Thursday.

London, Nov 2 : The British government is learnt to have urged the BBC to end the culture of “fat cat” pay for top presenters, else it would risk a cut in its 3.4 billion-pounds-a-year of public funding.

According to official figures, the BBC’s top 50 highest paid executives earn up to 14.3 million pounds a year between them, with 50 managers earning more than 190,000 pounds last year. Director-General Mark Thompson gets a package of 816,000 pounds per annum.
