Land-speed record holders focus on1,000 mph barrier
The current land speed record of 763 mph was set up by Richard Noble and Andy Green, who are now geared up to create a car, which they claim to break through the 1,000-mph barrier. If they are able to achieve the target, then this car would be more like a land rocket.
This car will also be equipped with piston, jet and rocket engines, and is expected to be more then 42 feet long. In just 40 seconds, this car is expected to make the run from 0 to 1,050 mph.
The duo expect to complete the thousand-mile-per-hour run in 2011. For 2009, it hopes to hit 800 mph and in 2010, it aims to do a 900 mph run.
