South Korean economy to shrink 2 per cent in 2009, minister says

South Korea FlagSeoul - South Korea's economy, Asia's fourth-largest, will shrink 2 per cent this year on falling exports and dwindling domestic demand, the government forecast Tuesday, reversing its earlier predictions of growth.

About 200,000 people were expected to lose their jobs because of the effects of the global economic downturn on South Korea's economy, Finance Minister Yoon Jeung Hyun added.

Only in December, the government had predicted growth of 3 per cent.

Officials at a leading Asian-American organisation rejected the apology insisting it was "not enough".

The 16-year-old star has for the second time apologised for the racist scandal on her website.

From beating their chests to putting objects on their heads, shaking their arms and even bouncing on all fours, the animals use more than 100 gestures to communicate with each other.

They vary from a fairly simple rocking movement to a complex sounding signal dubbed by the scientists as "disco arms shake".

Halle Berry to go bald for new flick

Washington, Feb 10 : Hollywood actress Halle Berry is set to go bald for new movie titled Nappily Ever After.

The film is a romantic comedy for which she plans to go bald.

"I''m shaving it off!" People quoted her as telling Essence magazine.

"I know. Here comes the controversy, but ... it''ll grow back - I hope!" she added.

The Oscar winner has recently wrapped her latest movie, Frankie and Alice, and says she's is happy settling back into her favourite role of all: mom to her 11-month-old daughter Nahla.

"When I looked at the stick and saw I was pregnant ... I was so happy. I thought I knew love before, but I''ve never felt anything like this," she said.

Iran ready to talk with America: Ahmadinejad

Mahmoud AhmadinejadTehran, Feb. 10 : Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that his government is ready to hold talks with the Barack Obama administration, but added that they must be based on mutual respect and in a fair atmosphere.

Ahmadinejad spoke Tuesday at celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of the Iranian Revolution.

Fox News quoted Ahmadinejad as saying the Obama administration was willing to "bring about a number of changes."

The hardline Iranian leader, however, said that he hoped the changes are "fundamental and not just tactical."

Brangelina ‘shun posh eateries for pre-Bafta meal at Indian curry house’

The couple, who were staying at the Dorchester hotel on Park Lane, had apparently ditched the Alain Ducasse restaurant to dine at the Noor Jahan, an Indian restaurant in South Kensington.

According to Shauyab Ahmed, part-owner of the restaurant, the pair were later joined by their celebrity friends Claudia Schiffer, her director hubby Matthew Vaughn and actor Robert Downey Junior.
