Uttar Pradesh University cancels Rahul Gandhi''s function

Rahul Gandhi, Uttar PradeshKanpur, Oct 24 : Uttar Pradesh administration today cancelled interactive session of Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi with the students of the Chandrashekhar Azad University.

According to sources, the Vice Chancellor of the University had given instructions to cancel the programme.

However, Rahul, who reached the University as per the scheduled programme, met the students in the cafeteria, instead of auditorium.

Ukraine stock market shut down again in bid to halt freefall

UkrainKiev- Ukraine's government on Friday shut down the country's largest stock market in another attempt to halt share-price freefall.

Managers of Ukraine's largest PFTS stock exchange froze all transactions less than two hours after opening.

Share values had fallen between 10 and 19 per cent over Friday morning in heavy trading.

Since the beginning of October, PFTS officials had repeatedly closed the exchange in the middle of a trading day, three times during last week alone.

Hezbollah denies Nasrallah poisoning rumours

Hezbollah Beirut  - The Lebanese Shiite militant movement Hezbollah denied on Friday rumors that its leader Hassan Nasrallah had been poisoned.

"It's a fabricated story - only rumors," Galeb Abu Zainab, a member of Hezbollah's political bureau was quoted as saying.

On Wednesday, the Iraqi website Almalaf reported that Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah had been poisoned last week and that Iranian doctors had been rushed to Lebanon to save his life.

It cited undisclosed sources as saying Israel was responsible for the assassination attempt.

Thai, Cambodian armies agree to ease border tensions

thailandBangkok- Army officers representing Thailand and Cambodia on Friday agreed to ease border tensions around the 11th century Preah Vihear temple, the site of a clash that claimed three lives earlier this month, state news reports said.

The tentative agreement between the two militaries was reached at the Thai-Cambodian Regional Border Committee (RBC) meeting held in the Cambodian northwestern province of Siem Reap, reported the Thai News Agency (TNA).
