Vote for change
The young actors, politicians and college students of the city have all come together to urge people to vote to bring about a change. Recently, John Abraham held an open discussion with the youngsters of the city, where in he discussed the pros of voting. Rahul Bose, Mini Menon, Arundhati Nag, Bickram Ghosh, Arindam Sil, Koel Purie will judge the street plays based on the subject which will be enacted at various colleges in seven different cities in India including Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi and others.
John Abraham says, "I have always believed in the power of the youth and the contribution they can make to the system as they are the future. Today I have joined hands with the campaign Ungli Utha Vote Kar to urge the youth of the country to come forward and exercise their right. I would like once again reiterate the importance of the role that today's youth can play in making this country a better place."
Ask Rahul Bose, why he agreed to be a part of the campaign and he says, "The first reason being my favourite — theatre. Secondly, the theme of the campaign is in itself such a revolutionary thing. It feels nice to be part of something which is at least trying to make a difference around."
But what kind of a change is Bose expecting from this campaign? He counter questions the question, asking, "Do you remember any campaign that has made a difference in the society?" He continues, "We do not run such campaigns because we want to change the society on the whole. We would not even realise that someone somewhere would have actually got affected and must be doing something to support the cause. There should not be a question on the magnitude of the effect the campaign brought in, rather we should realise that at least the youth is spending a little time out of their busy schedule, thinking about the cause — voting — and working towards it."
