Fiat eying on high exportFiat India Automobiles Limited (FIAL) has announced to pay special attention on exports and it is looking for opportunities in the SAARC region including Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka to achieve its export target of 7,000 cars for the current financial year.

FIAL Chief Executive Officer Rajeev Kapoor said, "We have started sending Linea in South Africa and are looking for opportunities to export in SAARC countries like Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka. The first batch of Linea (90 units) has also been sent to South Africa in the current fiscal."

Fiat, 50:50 industrial joint venture between Fiat Group Automobiles SpA and Tata Motors, exported over 800 Palios in the previous fiscal. It hopes better prospectus for its product, the Linea 1.4 emotion pack, in the market due to its lucrative features and fuel efficiency.

The auto giant, having over 2200 employees, has car manufacturing plant at Ranjangaon in Pune at which the company produces Palio Stile, Linea and Grande Punto besides producing Tata passenger and next generation cars.

FIAT's board of directors includes five nominees each from Fiat and Tata.
