Election Commission to hold an all- party meetingNew Delhi, Feb 3 : Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) N Gopalaswami, Election Commissioner Navin Chawla and the third commissioner S Y Quraishi along with members of forty seven political parties will sit to convene a formal meeting today.

This meeting is expected to discuss preparatory measures and electoral issues for the coming Lok Sabha elections, which can be held between April 8 and May 15.

There will also be a review discussion of all the state and union territory chief electoral officers on Wednesday, regarding the preparations done by them for the by-polls.

Another meeting regarding the same, with the Chief Secretaries and Director General of Police will be held on Thursday and Friday.

Earlier, Law Minister H R Bhardwaj had criticised Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami for his insistence on removal of his colleague Navin Chawla. He warned the CEC not to act like a "political boss" and concentrate on his duties in the Election Commission.

The all-party meeting today is expected to bring a solution to the inner rivalry in the Election Commission. (ANI)
