DVD Player reacting on gestures by Toshiba at CEATEC 2007 Tokyo
The base for this technology is the new processor SpursEngine which processes the gestures which have been taken by camera.
On the eve of CEATEC 2007 which is taking place these days in Tokyo, Toshiba has shown number of new products, among which a pre-production sample of innovative DVD player model, whose basic feature is the possibility to operate it by moving one's hand and without touching buttons.
As Associated Press release informs, this cutting-edge technology equipment includes a new processor SpursEngine, which processes the gestures taken by a camera and interprets them in corresponding commands. The maximal distance at which the system is capable to distinguish movements of hands, is 3 meters. According to the company's representatives, such a device is still not present on the market, and the company has not established the product's official release date.
