Discount memory cards suffice for standard digital cameras

Hamburg, Germany - You don't need the most expensive memory card in the store if you're using a standard digital camera. Regular cards are fast enough for regular photography, reports Computer Bild (Computer Picture) magazine in its issue cover dated 13/2008.

The Hamburg-based magazine found that data transfer time from a PC to a memory card varied greatly in a test of multiple memory cards. But the same test found little difference in time when transferring data from the card to the computer.

Thus, it only makes sense to invest a lot of money into a quicker card if you're planning to transfer a lot of data from your computer to your camera or if you use a very fast single-lens reflex camera. (dpa)
