Dhoni claims India can still 'improve' post 76-run win over Pak in CWC opener

Wellington, Feb 16 - India cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni feels that his side can still improve, despite claiming that their win against Pakistan was to quite extent a very complete game for all of them.

India beat Pakistan by 76 runs at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday to start their World Cup campaign on a winning note. Since arriving in Australia in November, India had only won one match, a practise game against Afghanistan, and they were under pressure.

And skipper Dhoni knew that it was important for India to avoid losing to Pakistan in their opening World Cup match. After the victory, Dhoni said that he felt the guys did really well because a World Cup opening game against Pakistan is a high-stake game, Stuff. co. nz reported.

However, the skipper added that at the same time they don't want to give it too much of an importance because irrespective of whether they are playing Pakistan or Australia, the games are important.

Dhoni claimed that one gets the same number of points, the run rate, depending on the margin one wins, it's the same. He added that he feels that they tried to keep it as normal as possible, and to a lot of extent they were able to do that.

Dhoni admitted that his players had felt flat after losing the four-match test series 2-0 to Australia and then finishing last in the tri-series one-day tournament, which also included England .

He said the players spent the 10 days between the end of that series and the start of the World Cup trying to refresh themselves physically and mentally.

Dhoni claimed that his players were in a much better frame of mind to defend their title. He said that their approach was always positive, adding that the result in the tri-series was not in their favour.

Dhoni insisted that in the Pakistan game it clicked together, adding that it's something that one has to do in tournaments like this. He said that one has to be at their best, and he felt that it was one game which was to a lot of extent a very complete game for all of them, but claimed that they can still improve. (ANI)
