A couple travel from Scotland to deliver medical aid to Gaza
Rafah, Egypt - A Palestinian-Scottish couple arrived at the Jordanian-Egyptian border with a van-load of medical aid hoping to be able to deliver it to Palestinians holed up in the Gaza Strip.
Palestinian-born Khalil al-Niss and his wife Linda Willis, a nurse, were waiting for entry permit into Egypt hoping they can take their van into the Gaza Strip.
They had embarked on their trip from in front of the Scottish Parliament in central Edinburgh on July 10, and travelled across Europe, passing through a dozen countries.
The couple, whose van carries both the Palestinian and Scottish flags, hope their trip would shed light on the suffering of Gaza Strip Palestinians due to the shortages of medical supplies.
Israel has closed exits into Gaza since the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas took control of the Strip in June 2007. (dpa)
