Condoleeza Rice may soon visit Islamabad for a tête-à-tête with Pervez Musharraf

Islamabad, Nov 5 : US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice may soon visit Islamabad to "express moral support" for President Pervez Musharraf after a world-wide condemnation that the General received for imposing emergency in the country.

Pakistan's leading daily, The Daily Times quoted diplomatic sources that Rice could arrive in the national capital anytime soon to get first-hand knowledge of the prevailing political situation.

Rice, who had termed the imposition of emergency as 'highly regrettable', may also meet former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

However, Pakistan Foreign Office (FO) has denied such reports.

FO sources said that they had heard the "rumour" of Dr Rice visiting Pakistan, "but the FO is unaware of any such visit".

Meanwhile, US Embassy officials in Islamabad were not available for comment.

The 'rumours' of Rice visiting Islamabad came amidst reports that US may halt aids to Pakistan in the wake of present political and Constitutional crisis there. (ANI)
