Car sales crash in Spain

Car sales crash in SpainMadrid - Spanish car sales went down 28.1 per cent in 2008 in their biggest ever plunge under the impact of the international economic crisis, the car makers' association Anfac and sellers' association Ganvam said Friday.

The sales of private cars fell nearly 27 per cent to around one million units, while the sales of four-wheel vehicles dropped 41 per cent to some 92,000 units.

The best performers were Ford, Peugeot and Citroen. Anfac president Luis Valero predicted a further 10 per cent drop for this year. (dpa)
