Tulip Telecom Secure Contract Worth Rs 950 Million From MP

Tulip Telecom Ltd has informed that it has been awarded a contract worth Rs. 950 Tulip Telecom Secure Contract Worth Rs 950 Million From MP million by Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation Ltd. 

As per the order, Tulip Telecom will build a state-wide area network on the Build, Own, Operate & Transfer (BOOT) basis.

According to the sources, the proposed network, for a duration of 5 years, supports data, voice and video, and will facilitate the State to implement various e-Governance initiatives.

BSNL To Extend Broadband Availability In Rural Areas

State-run BSNL has decided to expand its broadband connectivity in the rural areas of country. It would provide high speed internet connection to about 1.48 lakh extra villages of India in the next six months. The state run telecom giant is currently providing broadband connectivity to 30000 villages. The company has set a target to connect all district headquarters and blocks with broadband connectivity by March 2009. It hopes to implement its plan by the end of March 2009.

The government will implement its plan soon after the allocation of spectrum.

BSNL to share its network with private telecom companies for roaming agreement

State-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has informed that it has decided to share its network with private telecom companies for roaming agreements, which will enable subscribers to enjoy seamless connectivity throughout the country.

The decision to permit intra-circle roaming was taken at a recent management committee meeting held in Delhi.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) in this regard is expected to sign with the seeking operators initially for six months, only on non-exclusive and experimental basis. The company will sign the first roaming agreement with new telecom operator Swan Telecom.
