The Tilaiya ultra mega power project (UMPP) in Jharkhand has been acquired by Reliance by proposing to supply power at Rs 1.77 per unit, which is the lowest price quoted by the four companies in the fray.

The government owned NTPC was the one to come with the next bid for the Rs 16,000-18,000-crore project that assured to provide power from the pithead coal project at Rs 2.39 per unit.

Jindal Steel and Power and Sterlite Industries were other two bidders. The former offered to supply power at Rs 2.69 per unit whereas latter bid the highest at Rs 2.97 per unit.

Refex Energy, the part of BSE-listed Refex refrigerants, has informed that the firm is setting up a 50 MW solar PV power plant in Gujarat.

Recently, the energy firm for the purpose has signed a MOU with energy and petrochemicals department in the State.

Refex Energy stated in an official communiqué that it intends to begin the first phase of the 50 MW in 2009 and complete the investment in stages.

Two deals have been signed by Infrastructure Development Finance Co Ltd's unit IDFC Projects Ltd with Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd and Gujarat State Energy Co Ltd, said IDFC on Tuesday.

Under these deals, a 200 mega watt thermal power project in association with BHEL in two phases would be built, owned and operated by the company.

Via a statement, the company also informed that IDFC Projects would also set up another 10 mega watt solar power project.

State-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals, the engineering major, has signed Joint Venture agreement with Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd for setting up Joint Venture Company.

The JV company will build, own and operate two 660/800 megawatt coal-based power plant at Yeramarus in Raichur and another 660/8OOMW power plant at Edlapur, also in Raichur.

National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) has signed a Joint Venture agreement with five large state-run companies. The list includes Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL), Coal India Ltd (CIL) and National Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (NMDC).

KLG Systel has made announcement that company's power system solution (PSS) division has secured an order worth Rs 306 million from Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN).

According to sources, this is the repeat order, which has been awarded to the company for executing engineering procurement construction (EPC) project.

The major activity of India-based KLG Systel is to offer software, information technology solutions and IT enabled services.
