BSNL announces ‘Commercial Launch of its 3G services’ in 11 Cities
State-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL) has informed that it has commercially launched its third generation (3G) mobile services simultaneously in 11 cities, across the country.
The biggest telecom company in the country has launched 3G Mobile Services in 11 cities including Agra, Ambala, Jalandhar, Jaipur, Dehradoon, Shimla, Lucknow, Ranchi, Durgapur, Haldia, Patna & a soft launch in Jammu.
With launch of 3G services, the consumers of specific city or town will be able to enjoy video streaming applications such as live TV, movie and high speed data.
A top company executive said that the latest revolutionary move will provide a new dimension to the already existing services like internet, video conferencing, intranet and other data sharing on broadband speed.
It may be noted that currently, all mobile services offered by private operators are provided on second-generation networks using 2G airwaves.
Apart from commercial launch, BSNL has also announced tariff plans for 3G mobile services under pre-paid and post-paid voice, video and data plans.
The company stated in a release that the voice call will be available for as low as 10 paise a minute under full value 1,000 plan and local SMS is at 10 paise per SMS under Super 1,350 plan.
Similarly, video calls would cost Re 1 a minute under the unlimited Rs-2,500 plan and Rs 2 for STD video calls, the official added.
