Navratna defence PSU Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL) on Friday informed that its net profit for the January-March 2009 quarter grew by 10.6% to Rs 559.43 crore over the corresponding year-ago period.

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 504.83 crore in the same quarter, previous year.

Further, company's total income also rose to Rs 2783.03 crore in the quarter, up from Rs 2339.16 crore in the previous year-ago quarter.

For the full-year ended March, Bharat Electronics' net profit fell 2.10 percent to Rs 808.46 crore, as compared to Rs 826.73 crore for the year ended March 31, 2008.

While, the total income has increased from Rs 4299.13 crore for the year ended March 31, 2008 to Rs 4778.56 crore for the year ended March 31, 2009. On a consolidated basis, the company has posted a net profit of Rs 815.32 crore for the year ended March 31, 2009 as compared to Rs 837.26 crore for the year ended March 31, 2008.

Total Income has increased from Rs 4452.29 crore for the year ended March 31, 2008 to Rs 4947.04 crore for the year ended March 31, 2009.
