Bet365 wins Arizona Sports Betting License
British online gambling company Bet365 Group Limited has been awarded a sports betting license in Arizona, in a development that marks the company’s continuous expansion in the United States. Announcing the British online gambling operator’s approval for the Grand Canyon State’s sports betting license, the Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) said in a statement that three new sports wagering licenses were offered, one of which was awarded to Bet365 Group.
It was in late June when the state’s gaming regulator announced the opening of bidding process for the three new sports wagering licenses. Two of the three licenses were associated with professional sports teams located in the state, while the remaining one was for the Ak-Chin Indian Nation. However, the tribal nation was left without an online sports wagering companion in the month of October when Fubo closed all of its sportsbook operations.
The regulator neither revealed details about the fate of the other two online gaming licenses nor it mentioned if other gaming operators bid for the license that was eventually bagged by Bet365 Group.
While confirming Bet365’s victory, the ADG just said, “The application window for event wagering licenses opened on August 1, 2023 and closed on August 15, 2023. Applicants were required to submit their completed applications within this timeframe in order to have been considered for an event wagering license.”
Bet365 will be the seventeenth sportsbook operator in Arizona. Now, it will compete with the likes of Betfred, Bally Bet, BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, BlueBet, DraftKings, FanDuel and SuperBook Sports.
It may also be noted here that the British online sports betting operator has also bagged license for Kentucky recently. Thus, Arizona and Kentucky are the latest additions to the company’s U.S. portfolio. The operator is also active in a number of other states in the U.S., including Colorado, Ohio and New Jersey. In addition, it has market access in Pennsylvania. It wouldn’t be wrong to state that Bet365 is taking a logical approach to fast expand and increase its profits in the U.S.
Founded by British billionaire businesswoman Denise Coates in 2000, Bet365 has nearly 90 million customers around the globe, which is enough to confirm the company’s dominance in online sports gaming markets in Europe. In addition to its expanding U.S. footprint, the British operator is making its presence felt in Ontario, Canada.
