Akhtar not fit enough to play all five games of UAE series

Shoaib-AkhtarIslamabad, Apr. 17 : Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar, who has been included in the national team for the UAE one-day international series against Australia after passing a series of fitness tests, may not be able to play in all five games.

According to the Dawn, Akhtar may have cleared all fitness tests’ following a nod from the team’s medical staff, but the 33 year old bowler seems far from fit.

He shown signs of fatigue during the three day training camp in Lahore.

Aktar’s teammates have also questioned his fitness.

“It was a risk to select Akhtar because there are questions over his fitness and readiness to make an impact on the Australians,” Akhtar’s teammate, who is also a part of the 15 member squad for the series, said.

Akhtar’s last outing in a fifty over game was in a home series against Sri Lanka.

Akhtar’s dismal show in the first two games of the series led to him being dropped. He was later ruled out for the Test due to a knee injury. (ANI)
