AAI denies the know-how of closure
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) replied in the HC on yesterday that it was not taken into consideration before the closure of HAL airport and washed hands its hands stating that it had no role to play in the closure of the airport.
It was further illustrated that the role of AAI was only to administer the proceedings of the BIAL. The crucial role involved handling air traffic control. It was further added to the defense that BIAL was scoring low on per peak hour passenger capacity, which was below the normal international standards.
AAI also told that the annual passenger capacity of BIA was 9.78 million and this figure was the lowest in comparison to any other airport in India.
However, the court is yet to take any decision as the hearing has been adjourned till Thursday for considering the arguments of GE Vahanavati, Attorney General of India. The decision will be made as transparent as possible with proper support.
