The Verge: Microsoft is bringing back ‘Start’ button with Windows Blue

The Verge: Microsoft is bringing back ‘Start’ button with Windows BlueThe Verge has revealed in a recent report, citing unidentified sources, that Microsoft's new version of Windows 8 - the Windows 8.1; or `Windows Blue,' as it is also called - will feature an option for booting to the traditional Windows interface, rather than the `Metro'-style Start Screen which is being used in the current Windows 8 OS version.

According to The Verge, the `Start' button change which Microsoft will be bringing to its Windows Blue edition - which will reportedly be launched this year - will have to be switched on by the users of the new OS version.

The report about Microsoft's plans to switch to the tradition booting option for the Windows Blue version - which will be a follow-up to the October 2012-released Windows 8 - comes after Microsoft's statement that the release cycles for new versions of its flagship Windows OS are being tightened.

Substantiating the rumors about the `Blue' version, Microsoft had said in a last-month statement that its employees were working together on plans for advancing the company's devices and services; and had added that the mentioned plans were "referred to internally as `Blue'."

About the `Start' button coming back with Windows Blue, The Verge's sources said that Microsoft was currently testing Windows Blue builds which include "an option to boot directly to the traditional desktop" with the "hot corner functionality, for access to the Charms and Start Screen [remaining] intact if the boot to desktop option is enabled."
