Union Home Ministry reviews Assam situation

ULFANew Delhi, July 24 : The Union Home Ministry today in detail reviewed the situation in Assam.

At a high level meeting taken by Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta here today, the security situation in Assam was reviewed in detail.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary and DGP of Assam, Special Secretary (IS) in Ministry of Home Affairs, senior officers of the CRPF and BSF and representatives of the Ministry of Defence.

The meeting took stock of the situation, arising out of the unilateral declaration of ceasefire by some ULFA cadres.

The violence in the Bodo Territorial Autonomous District area was viewed with concern and effective measures to deal with this were discussed.

The meeting reviewed the security of the infrastructure projects in the NC Hill District particularly construction of broad-gauge railway line and NHAI projects. (ANI)
