Greenpeace names Nokia greenest electronic brand

NokiaWashington, Oct 1: Nokia has been ranked as the most eco-friendly electronic brand, according to Greenpeace's annual Guide to Greener Electronics.

In the ninth edition of its guide, Greenpeace has declared that Nokia is a step ahead of other well-known manufacturers like Samsung and Nintendo.

Nokia managed to get a high score of seven out of ten possible points, because of its improved take-back practices in India, toxic chemical issues, utilizing models free of PVC and aiming to have all new models free of brominated flame retardants and antimony trioxide by the end of 2009, reports Environmental News Network.

Nokia, the Finnish firm is a household name in mobile phones in India. Its touch Nokia Launches First Touch screen Smart phone screen phone is the latest but late entry into the phase of such phones. But the company has a history of coming late to the market with innovations yet ends up successful. The main competitors now are Apple’s iPhone and Android.

Nokia’s Mobile TV Channel Showcasing its latest multi-media device, Finnish handset manufacturer – Nokia, the supplier of four out of every ten phones sold, unveiling its’ mobile television channel, consisting a series of 96-second programmes, hopes users will embrace TV watching on the go. 

With the launch of N96 – Nokia’s latest handset, scheduled for 1st October 2008, the six new programmes covering motoring, fashion, gadgets, comedy, culture and homes, are specifically designed to showcase the multi-media capabilities of the new arrival.

India on Tuesday saw the launch of the most advanced multimedia gadget-Nokia 96, by Latest Multimedia Handset N-96 Unveiled By Nokia the mobile and communication giant, Nokia. This exclusive set will be in the market from 15th September, with the price tag of Rs 34,999.

The user will get memory of 16 GB with N-96 that can be further increased to 24GB with an optional microSD card. This enables the user to preserve hours of media and entertainment going on across the world.

Nokia Takes A Step Ahead With N79, N85 and N96

Nokia seems to be running high with its business plans as it recently announced the Nokia Takes A Step Ahead With N79, N85 and N96  launch of three new models including Nokia N79, Nokia N85 and Nokia N96, which are hoped to be shipped in U.S. in the Q4 of 2008.

While N79 seems to be an updated version of N73 or even N78, N85 on the other hand looks as it has been adopted from N82, and hazes the lines with the very successful N95.

Their announcement came after the launch of Apple’s iPhone. The companies have shown commitment to provide cheaper touch phone than iPhone for the customers. They have also planned a strategy to compete the popular ‘iTunes’ online music service of iPhone.

Iphone is planning to expand its market for touch-screen phones in India. There is a good prospectus of touch phones in India. The data shows that 40% of phones will incorporate touch-screen technology in the near future.
