Dharamsala, Apr 10 : The Tibet Women Association (TWA) on Friday began its six-day long ninth general body meeting to elect its members.
This year's meeting is remarkable as it marks the 50th anniversary of the TWA since its inception at Lhasa in Tibet and 25 years since its reinstatement in Dharamsala.
About 175 women from all across India and some from Nepal and USA have arrived here for the meeting.
Dharamsala, Apr 10 : Himachal Pradesh Police have conducted a mock disaster management drill in Dharamsala to train its personnel to face any emergency situation.
Himachal Pradesh Police Programme Coordinator and Assistant Commandant, Ved Prakash, said the drill was more important for Dharamsala as it was an earthquake prone area.
Dharamsala, Apr 7: As a part of the Mind and Life Institute founded by the Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama, Buddhists and scientists of metaphysics from across the globe converged here to deliberate on issues of science and Buddhism.
The five-day conference that commenced on Monday happens to be the eighteenth in series of conclaves mooted by the Dalai Lama in 1987 when he set up an organisation named The Mind and Life Institute.
Dharamsala, Mar 29 : Tibetans living-in-exile presented a play here on alleged Chinese atrocities to mark 50 years of Chinese rule in Tibet.
Through street performance, Tibetans portrayed the alleged atrocities being inflicted by Chinese troops in Lhasa, the capital of the roof the world.
"This is just to show the world that how Chinese are brutally torturing Tibetans in Tibet, still people are dying. Many people are lost. We don''t know yet where they are?," said Sonam, a Tibetan activist.
Dharamshala, Mar 21 : Dharamsala hopes to emerge as a likeable venue for international cricket, even as preparations are in full swing at the town''s picturesque cricket stadium for the second edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Dharamsala expects to host four matches, after the league commences from April 10.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal has assured that the state government will provide foolproof security during the event.
