Swine flu takes life of a pregnant woman in PuneThe number of swine flu victims has reached 26 in Pune including the pregnant women who recently lost her life due to H1N1 virus.  The deadly virus has taken three lives in Karnataka.  

Rupali Jori (28) of Malkhed village in Haveli taluka who was 20 weeks pregnant died on Friday in the ICU. She showed symptoms of cough, fever and breathlessness. She was tested positive for the H1N1 influenza.

The patient was initially treated at a private hospital in Wadgaon Dhayri. As her condition didn’t improve, she was moved to the Sahyadri Munot hospital in the city on August 20.   

Rupali Jori (28) was immediately put on the ventilator but her condition keep on deteriorating. Despite their best efforts, doctors could save her and she died at 8pm on Friday. According to doctors, she slipped into acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).

District collector Chandrakant Dalvi said three people tested positive for the H1N1 virus in the city. A total of 18 patients are in ICUs of various hospitals in city. Out of these, nine are critical and six are on ventilators.
