Snapchat users can raise as much as $3 million to combat AIDS on World AIDS Day

On the World AIDS Day, the non-profit (RED) organization has planned a number of activities to raise both money and awareness for its battle against the disease. Every Snapchat user can do his part just by adding a filter to his snaps.

The LA Times has reported that the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is going to donate $3 to (RED) every time a Snap is posted, with one of 3 custom ‘World AIDS Day’ filters up to a huge sum of $3 million.

Snapchat has come in collaboration with (RED) for the first time ever. Besides, this is the first huge philanthropic campaign undertaken by the company. For (RED), partnership with digital services in addition to the (RED) products offered by it is common. The organization associated with the Apple's App Store last year and has also worked with Vine, Twitter and Foursquare in the past.

The Gates Foundation has capped its donations at $3 million. The group has said that it is also going to make $3 donation every time a (RED) YouTube video featuring Jimmy Kimmel, Barry Manilow and Scarlet Johansson is shared. These donations have been capped out at an extra $1 million.

Snapchat users will get the access to the three filters starting at midnight in their local time zone. The availability will be active for a day.
