New York City - The options for survival for US automotive giants General Motors and Chrysler are limited to bankruptcy protection, merger or a receipt of aid from the US government, the Wall Street Journal said Monday.
Citing sources inside GM and Chrysler, the respected financial daily said the two companies which are currently in merger negotiations would as a combined entity need around 10 billion dollars to continue operations, and may require government aid in any case.

Cairo - Arab League Secretary General Amr Mussa on Monday condemned the US raid in Syria on Sunday, describing it as "a violation of Syrian sovereignty."
Mussa told reporters at the League's headquarters that the US action did not help stability in the already volatile region.
He underlined the Arab League's support for Syria's "right to defend its land and people" and called for an investigation in the incident to "hold those responsible into account."
Baghdad - The Iraqi government on Monday said that it is talking to US officials over the American raid on the remote Syrian border village of Al-Sukariya and that it hoped the incident would not spoil Iraq's ties with Damascus.
Iraqi government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh at the same time reiterated an unsourced US statement that the raid targeted a haven for a militant group which used to carry out execute deadly attacks inside Iraq.
