Terrorism is a global threat, coordinated efforts required, says Farooq Abdullah

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq AbdullahSrinagar, Dec 2 : National Conference leader and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah has said that terrorism has swept the world and a coordinated effort is required to tackle this threat.

In the wake of last week''s deadly Mumbai terror attacks, Abdullah has said the UN Security Council should plan out a course of action.

Third phase of polling underway in J-K

Srinagar, Nov 30: Third phase of the seven phased elections is going on in Jammu and Kashmir today. Six constituencies where the votes are being polled include Kupwara, Lolab, Karnah, Langate, Handwara district.

Polling of votes started amid curfew like restrictions at eight in the morning and will close at four in the afternoon. Tight security arrangements have been made at all polling stations.

A complete shutdown is being observed across the Kashmir valley today. The Coordination Committee (an amalgam of Hurriyat, traders, employees. lawyers) has given the shutdown call against the elections.

Notification issued for seventh phase of J-K Assembly polls

SrinagarSrinagar, Nov 26 : The notification for the seventh and final phase of assembly elections in 21 constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir, spread over three districts of Srinagar, was issued today.

The constituencies, including the Hazratbal, Zadibal, Idgah, Khanyar, Habba Kadal, Amira Kadal, Sonawar and Batamaloo in Srinagar district, Samba and Vijaypur in Samba district, Nagrota, Gandhinagar, Jammu East, Jammu West, Bishnah, R S Pura, Marh, Suchetgarh, Raipur Domama, Akhnoor and Chhamb in Jammu district will go to polls on December 24.
