Army’s Operation Sangam for children of terrorism affected areas of J-K

Srinagar, Nov 23 : The Rashtriya Rifles, counterinsurgency force of the Army, continuing with its efforts towards providing quality education and learning opportunities to the children of terrorism affected areas in Jammu and Kashmir has organized an educational-cum-motivational tour of the country.

Rashtriya Rifles 12 Sector has arranged an educational cum motivational tour for 35 children from a wide cross section of schools of remote and inaccessible villages in District-Budgam with effect from November 22 to December 8.

The school children who are accompanied by three teachers, including one lady teacher, would be exposed to diverse cultures, life styles and sight seeing of various historical and tourist spots of Pune, Mumbai and Delhi.

Second phase of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls on SundaySrinagar, Nov 22 : The stage is set for the second phase of assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.

Six assembly constituencies spread over two districts of Rajouri and Ganderbal will be covered during this phase. A total of 530 polling booths have been set up in both districts.

About 120 companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed in sensitive areas, whereas army personnel will provide additional security cover.

Deployment of the security personnel’s has been made to Srinagar and other major towns of the valley as the Chairman of the Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, is likely to lead the protest march to Jamia Masjid.

Shabnam Lone defies boycott call, says yes to polls

Srinagar, Nov 20 : Defying a poll boycott call, Shabnam Lone, daughter of slain Hurriyat Conference leader Abdul Gani Lone has decided to contest the state assembly election as an Independent candidate from Kashmir''s Kupwara constituency.

Soon after filing her papers, Shabnam, an advocate by profession said contesting the polls was not her choice but of hundreds of her father''s followers and the people of her constituency.

On the decision of her brothers Sajjad Gani Lone and Bilal Gani Lone to start an anti-poll campaign, She said: "They are right in their own way and this is their personal decision."
