Akola, Feb 16 : A massive fire gutted goods worth millions of rupees in a plywood factory in Akola, Maharashtra on Sunday night.

The fire broke out around 9 p. m. at the Kenud Plywood Mill.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire spread to a neighbouring school and a house damaging both buildings.

Though no loss to human life was reported, goods, furniture and raw material worth million of rupees was destroyed.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Akola, Ram Rao Patond claimed that over 20 fire engines were used to put the massive fire out.

Locals suspect that a short-circuit could be behind the mishap.

The fire was brought under control at around 4:00 a. m. on Monday.

Mumbai, Feb 11 : The board of directors of Satyam Computer Services will meet in Mumbai on Thursday to discuss the company''s operational issues.

The newly elected Satyam Chairman Kiran Karnik will chair the board meeting.

After receiving a Rs. 600 crore loan from banks, the company directors are aiming to restore the investor''s confidence.

The meeting is also likely to discuss issues relating to companies manifesting interest in acquiring a controlling stake in Satyam.

Meanwhile, the designated auditors are working on the restatement of accounts.

Mumbai, Feb. 10 : Union Home Minister P Chidambaram said the government has a zero tolerance policy to fight terrorism and naxal threat.

In a high-level security review meeting with Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, other top functionaries, Chidambaram said that New Delhi had given a dossier to Islamabad on the Mumbai terror attacks and was awaiting a response.

He rubbished the Pakistani stand that there was Bangladeshi involvement in the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai.

The Mumbai’s King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital is struggling to deal with emergency services after resident doctors went on a strike.

The resident doctors are calling for the arrest of 25 people following an alleged assault on five of their colleagues by relatives of a patient on Monday night.

The patient, who was undergoing treatment in the Central Mumbai hospital for the last 15 days, died in the hospital and the body was not handed over to the relatives.
