Three Maoists killed in encounter with CRPF in JharkhandHazaribag (Jharkhand), July 29 : Three Maoists were killed and several injured in an encounter with the Central Reserve Police Force last night in Vishnugarh forest area of Hazaribag District.

The encounter took place when security forces headed by the CRPF Deputy Commandant R K Mishra and Vishnugarh, police station in-charge Bhola Singh raided the jungles on Hazaribag-Bokaro border, about 90 km from here.

For the first time, a serving IAS officer convicted in fodder scam

Jharkhand, RanchiRanchi, July 14 : Jharkhand Transport Secretary Sajal Chakraborty today became the first serving IAS officer to be convicted in the fodder scam by a special CBI Court.

Chakraborty (48) was among the 64 accused found guilty by the court here for signing forged bills in a fodder case relating to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 39 crore from Chaibasa treasury in the early 1990s.

The CBI court sentenced 10 women (all fodder suppliers) to three years jail term while the quantum of sentence against Chakraborty and 53 others will be pronounced tomorrow.

20 killed in bus-truck collision

Ormanjhi, July 10 On Wednesday fear hit the minds of people when a bus rammed into a scrap-laden truck at Ormanjhi, 18 km from Ranchi taking life of at least 20 people and leaving 8 others injured.

“The accident occurred when the driver of the bus tried to avoid hitting a motorcyclist near Pallu village,” Deputy Inspector General of police R K Mullick said.

“So far 14 bodies, including that of the driver, have been extricated from the bus and the rest were being brought out,” he said.

There were around 30 passengers for Ramgarh inside the bus.

The bus was carrying around 30 passengers from here to Ramgarh.
