Danish premier on visit to AfghanistanCopenhagen - Amid extremely tight security measures, Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen on Monday visited Danish military units in Afghanistan, reports said.

The premier met with Danish soldiers and was close to one of the areas in the restive Helmand province where NATO-led ISAF forces have engaged Taliban forces.

Rasmussen was quoted as telling Danish news agency Ritzau that he had wanted to visit the zone "where soldiers are conducting the most dangerous part of their mission."

Pak Taliban suicide bombers raring to attack in every nook and corner of Pak, Afghan Islamabad  - Afghan authorities on Monday handed over the son of a Pakistani scientist allegedly linked to al-Qaeda held in US custody to Pakistan's embassy in Kabul, officials said.

Aafia Siddiqui, 36, a US-educated neuroscientist, has been charged in a Manhattan court with assault on and attempted murder of her US investigators. She was arrested in Afghanistan's Ghazni province on July 17.

He said that the Oruzgan province in Afghanistan, where around 750-strong Aussie troops are deployed, has not been won over the years, though there has been an impressive progress.

Two killed in bomb blast targeting Afghan district governor Kabul - A bomb hidden in a motorbike was remotely detonated on Monday in western Afghanistan, killing two security guards and wounding seven others, police said.

The attack targeted Lal Mohammad Omarzai, district chief of Shindand district in Herat province, as he was entering the district headquarters compound Monday morning, western region police spokesman Abdul Raouf Ahmadi said.

"The bomb missed the district chief's vehicle but struck the second car, killing two bodyguards including Omarzai's son," Ahmadi said.
