Baloch `incredibly disappointed’ over PM’s address snub

Islamabad, July 21:Pakistan Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Political parties in Balochistan have said that they were “incredibly disappointed” with Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani first address to the nation on Saturday night.

According to the Daily Times, most of them felt that Gilani had ignored mentioning the problems affecting Pakistan’s largest province, clearly giving the impression that the military establishment had pressured both the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Gilani not to touch the “sensitive” issue of Balochistan.

Islamabad, July 21 : Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza GilaniIn a report presented to Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, it has been claimed that there were around 8000 foreign fighters present in the country, mostly in North and South Waziristan and Bajaur agencies.

The report was presented to the Prime Minister in the presence of PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Adviser to the Interior Ministry Rehman Malik.

According to the report, the biggest attraction for these young militants from the Middle East, Central Asia and Europe was the “increase in the number of US troops in Afghanistan”.

Pak supporting US’ war on terror for self-interest, says Gilani

Lahore, July 18: Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that by supporting the US-led war against global terrorism, Pakistan was not fighting a proxy war, but because it was in its own interest.

He said that Islam was a religion of peace, tolerance and harmony, but a handful of Muslims were bringing a bad name to it by indulging into terrorist activities and killing innocent people.

The prime minister further said that terrorism must not be linked to Islam.

“A handful of people were bringing a bad name to Islam, which was a religion of peace, tolerance and harmony. Islam preached a message of love and terrorist activities were destroying this image in the entire world,” the Daily Times quoted him as saying while talking to reporters here last evening.
