India urges Pakistan to honour its own deadline for Mumbai attack probeNew Delhi, Jan 30 : External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee has urged Pakistan to honour its own deadline to make public the report of a preliminary investigation prepared on the basis of information provided by New Delhi regarding Mumbai attacks last November.

Talking to reporters here on Thursday, Mukherjee said India had not given any deadline, but it is expected of Pakistan to honour its own deadline.

"We have requested that the basic effort should be to help the civilians and ensure their safety and security," Mukherjee said after his meeting with Rajapakse.

Rajapakse assured Mukherjee that Sri Lanka will implement the 13th Amendment devolution package soon.

Mukherjee to visit Sri Lanka today

New Delhi, Jan 27 : External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee will visit Sri Lanka today where the military claims to have captured the last LTTE bastion of Mullaittivu.

During the two-day visit, Mukherjee will meet Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama and to press for early implementation of the devolution package to ensure that the ethnic Tamils get rights and privileges at par with others.

His visit comes in the backdrop of strong demands by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and some other parties from the state that the External Affairs Minister should visit Sri Lanka and prevail upon Rajapaksa government to go for ceasefire.

International community must not link Mumbai attack to Kashmir: Mukherjee

Apparently referring to the recent statement made by the British Foreign Secretary David Miliband on Kashmir suggesting terror attacks in south Asia would stop with the resolution of the Kashmir dispute, Mukherjee said: "These attacks (on Mumbai) are not related to Jammu and Kashmir and are a part of global terrorism."
