Karimnagar (Andhra Pradesh), Apr 7 : Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday said Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh handled the 26/11 Mumbai attack as a strong leader.

"The handling of 26/11 Mumbai attack and crisis in Pakistan proved that Prime Minister has provided the nation with a strong leadership," Sonia Gandhi said while addressing a election rally here.

Guwahati, Apr. 7 : The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, has cancelled plans to address an election rally in Dibrugarh, Assam, due to inclement weather in the area.

The cancellation of the rally came even as death toll in Monday's serial blasts in Assam went up to ten.

A woman succumbed to shrapnel and burn injuries at the Gauhati Medical College this morning. Sahida Khatun Khatun was wounded in the Maligaon blast.

The blasts rocked Guwahati, Dhekiajuli, Mankachar and Bokajan areas.

Dibrugarh (Guwahati), Apr 7 : Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will address a public meeting in Dibrugarh, about 400 km from Guwahati, today.

According to sources, Dr. Singh, who represents Assam in the Rajya Sabha, will also address a public meeting in Dispur.

The visit is being held a day after at least seven people were killed and 61 others injured in two bomb blasts triggered by suspected ULFA militants in Maligaon area in Guwahati and Dhekiajuli near Tezpur.

New Delhi, Apr 6 : Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has expressed grief over the demise of Puducherry Lt. Governor Govind Singh Gurjar.

In his condolence message, Dr. Singh remembered Gurjar as a prominent leader of Rajasthan and a dedicated social worker.

"Gurjar always kept up the high traditions of public life, and discharged his duties as the Lt. Governor of Puducherry with grace and dignity," he said.

The Prime Minister conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family.

Guwahati, Apr 6 : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is scheduled to attend an election rally at Dibrugarh on Tuesday.

An Assam Pradesh Congress Committee spokesman informed that Singh will arrive in the town at 11.30 a. m. to campaign for the party candidate, former Union Minister Paban Singh Ghatowar.

The constituency is going to polls in the second phase of election on April 23.

New Delhi, Apr. 4 : Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh arrived here in wee hours of Saturday after attending "satisfactory" G-20 summit in London.

Dr. Singh also held bilateral talks with US President Barack Obama and G-20 host and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown on the sidelines of the summit.

Dr. Singh expressed satisfaction after discussing terrorism, economy and bilateral issues with Obama and Brown.
