Prime Minister will be absent in the Republic day parade

Manmohan SinghNew Delhi, Jan 23 : For the first time in the 60 odd years since Indian independence, a Prime Minister will miss the Republic day parade.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will miss the special occasion for undergoing a coronary artery bypass graft surgery on Jan 24, at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

Singh is admitted in the hospital, where an angiography-X-ray examination of the blood vessels was conducted on him. He also underwent several blood chemistry tests, CT scan and ECG, which have affirmed arterial blockages in the heart.

Indian prime minister to undergo heart surgery, reports say New Delhi  - Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will undergo heart surgery over the weekend and was likely to be admitted to a New Delhi hospital later on Friday, media reports said.

Singh, 76, underwent a coronary angiography as part of a series of heart-related tests at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Tuesday and Wednesday and was discharged on Thursday.

The medical tests revealed multiple arterial blockages and doctors were preparing for a surgery as early as Saturday, the NDTV network reported.

(AIIMS) tomorrow.

The surgery would be performed by a team of doctors drawn from AIIMS and the Asian Heart Institute, Mumbai.

They would be supported by a team of doctors and technical staff drawn from other departments of AIIMS.

Earlier this week, Dr. Singh underwent extensive medical tests at AIIMS.

Manmohan Singh likely to undergo angioplasty soon

Manmohan SinghNew Delhi, Jan 22, : Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is expected to go through a cardiac bypass procedure soon, after facing extensive medical tests at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.

One of the source told that PM may have to undergo a fresh angioplasty or a bypass surgery in the next few weeks.

Though, Doctors attending to the Dr. Singh made it clear that he did not face any medical emergency.

Dr. Singh is a diabetic and has been controlling the condition with medicines and exercise like regular walking.

Indian prime minister discharged from hospital New Delhi - Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was discharged Thursday from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences where he underwent a coronary angiography as part of a series of heart-related tests, officials said.

"He has been discharged. He is hale and hearty and has gone back home," Dr KS Reddy, the prime minister's personal physician was quoted as saying by PTI news agency.

Singh, 76, had undergone coronary angiography along with a series of other tests at the hospital on Tuesday and Wednesday, leading to concern about his health.
