Delhiites wish speedy recovery to Manmohan Singh

Manmohan SinghNew Delhi, Jan. 25 : Residents of Delhi on Sunday joined the rest of the nation in expressing concern over Prime Minister Manmohan Singh''s health and wished him speedy recovery after he had undergone a sucessful artery bypass surgery.

Ajay Gupta, a city resident, said the country needs Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

"We wish him (Prime Minister Manmohan Singh) all the success and a good speedy recovery. We really hope that he is back to his job as soon as possible because he is one of the ablest men that we have. And we really need him at this hour," Gupta said.

PM taken off ventilator, talks to his family

Manmohan SinghNew Delhi : Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, was taken off ventilator support on Sunday morning, and according to a health update, spoke with members of his family.

"Prime Minister Singh spent an uneventful night following the surgery. He talked to his family this morning. The doctors attending on him say that he is stable, comfortable and is making rapid progress," a PMO statement said.

The Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia, also called on him to enquire about his well-being.

Manmohan Singh’s heart operation successful

Manmohan SinghNew Delhi, Jan. 24 : The redo (repeat) by-pass surgery on Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has been successful and his condition is stable.

Dr. Singh has been transferred to the Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU) after the operation.

"The operation was successful and there is nothing to worry about. His condition is stable. He has been moved to the Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU)," an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) source said here.

Manmohan Singh undergoing bypass surgeryNew Delhi, Jan 24: The entire nation became one in fervently praying for the speedy recovery of Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh who is undergoing a coronary artery bypass surgery today at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi.

A diabetic patient, Dr. Singh was admitted into the hospital for the coronary artery bypass graft surgery. The family members of the Prime Minister are in the capital.

Manmohan Singh ''s heart surgery beginsNew Delhi, Jan 24 : Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is undergoing heart surgery today at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi.

A team of 11 doctors from Asian Heart Institute, Mumbai led by Dr Ramakant Panda, are performing Dr. Singh''s coronary artery bypass graft surgery. The operation is expected to last upto 6- 8 hours.

According to hospital sources, during the surgery, doctors will try to develop an alternate route for the supply of blood by sidelining the blocked part using graft of arteries and vessels derived from other parts of the body.
