Los Angeles, Sep 7 : How much do different sounds affect your mood? New research reveals that certain sounds can have a soothing effect on one's mood, while some can affect negatively too.

The 'sound of waves crashing on a beach' is the most popular and most loved sound by women, with nearly two thirds of the respondents voting for it. This was closely followed by 'birds singing', 'walking in the snow' and 'raindrops falling on a window'.

The study also found that women were twice as likely as men to favour the sweet sound of children laughing, reports femalefirst. co. uk.

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 7 : The tourism department in Kerala is expected to reap benefits on account of the fall in the value of the rupee, State Tourism Minister A. P. Anilkumar told reporters here Saturday.

"In the previous calendar year Kerala tourist arrivals saw a seven percent growth and a record 18 million people visited the state," he said.

"With the weakening of rupee and a fresh tourism season on the anvil, it's quite certain that those in the tourism business here will benefit," Anilkumar said.

Cairo, Sep 7 : An Egyptian court has jailed ousted president Mohamed Morsi for four days pending investigations over insulting the judiciary, state-run Ahram website reported Saturday.

Morsi, in a televised interview, accused 22 judges of fraud during the 2005 parliamentary elections, Xinhua reported.

He is also accused of attempting to influence the trial of Ahmed Shafiq, his rival in the presidential elections.

Morsi is now serving a renewed 15-day term pending investigations over charges of spying and breaking out of prison during the 2011 turmoil which toppled president Hosni Mubarak.

Vodafone India, the Indian arm of British telecom giant Vodafone PLc, suffered a jolt on Friday when his writ petition challenging a transfer pricing order by the income-tax (I-T) department was dismissed by the Bombay High Court.

Mumbai, Sep 7: Actress Priyanka Chopra, who plays Mary Kom in a biopic on the Olympic bronze medallist, asserts that she will be able to convince the audience in the role of a boxer.

The actress has never played any sport in her life, yet she is confident of playing a sportsperson in the film.

"I will try my best to play a sportsperson in the film. I will try my best to be as close to the boxer as I can. I will convince you as a boxer in the film," Priyanka said here in an interview.
