Jobless Workers aged 45 to 70 face Employment Challenges

A new survey by AARP revealed that workers of 45 to 70 ages, who do not have job, are facing difficulties while searching for new work. If they find work they get lower pay and fewer benefits than they received before.

According to experts, completely 50% of the people surveyed were still without a job or had dropped out of the workforce.

"Long after the Great Recession, too many 50-plus workers who want to work are still unemployed, and once unemployed it takes them longer on average to find jobs than younger job seekers", said Jo Ann Jenkins, president of AARP, in a news conference in Washington.

‘Exploding head syndrome’ appears to be more common than previously thought: Study

A new study has revealed that an unexpectedly high percentage of young people experience 'exploding head syndrome', a psychological phenomenon in which people are awakened by abrupt loud noises and sensation of an explosion in their head.

The 'exploding head syndrome' can result in sufferers hearing explosions or other loud noises as they attempt to drift off to sleep. However, all these sounds are not real rather they are auditory sleep hallucinations.

It has been found that nearly one in five of interviewed college students experienced the syndrome at least once. Some students explained that the syndrome has significantly impacted their lives.

Low-Density Supersonic Decelerator to take its first step on road to Mars

NASA has revealed that the Low-Density Supersonic Decelerator (LDSD) is going to take its first step on the road to Mars on Tuesday. The spacecraft is all set to take the 'spin table test' at the Pacific Missile Range Facility in Hawaii.

The event will stream from 12 to 1 pm EST on NASA JPL's live stream and the craft is shaped similar to a flying saucer. According to experts, this table test is demonstration of how the craft is going to spin as it decelerates NASA's cargo during the descent.

Google signs a deal to team up with Ethicon to work on surgical robotics applications

A deal has been signed by Google to collaborate with Johnson & Johnson subsidiary Ethicon so as to work on surgical robotics applications. According to the statement by J&J, both the companies will bring capabilities, intellectual property and expertise together in order to build a robotic-assisted surgical platform.

Johnson & Johnson said in a statement, "The companies will bring together capabilities, intellectual property and expertise to create an innovative robotic-assisted surgical platform capable of integrating advanced technologies with the goal of improving health care delivery in the operating room".

Verizon CEO wants Congress to play more active role in setting Internet Policy

The long-simmering opposition for the Federal Communication Commission's recently adopted rules for the protection of Net neutrality has intensified.

Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam, in a strongly worded three-page letter, has addressed to the congressional committee leaders with jurisdiction over the FCC. He has urged Congress to play a more active role in setting policy for the Internet.

McAdam said, "The FCC went far beyond open Internet rules, engaging in a radical and risky experiment to change the very policy that resulted in the United States leading the world in the Internet economy".
