Breast Milk sold Online could be adulterated with Cow’s milk

The U. S. FDA has warned women about breast milk being sold online. The FDA said that it could lead to certain serious health and adulteration risks. And now, researchers are also supporting the warnings.

A novel study published in the journal Pediatrics has found that 10% of breast milk samples bought online were mixed with cow's milk. The researchers bought 102 bottles of breast milk online and then they assessed the samples for human DNA or bovine DNA from cows.

Kandiyohi County Poultry Farm tests positive for H5N2 Avian influenza

According to reports, bird flu has arrived in Minnesota's top turkey-producing county, which is Kandiyohi County. On Monday, state officials stated that a poultry farm of the county with more than 26,000 turkeys has tested positive for H5N2 avian influenza. The case is the first in Kandiyohi County and seventh in Minnesota, as per the reports.

The Minnesota Board of Animal Health confirmed on Monday that a Stearns County farm with about 76,000 turkeys has also tested positive for the virus. It was the third confirmed case of the avian influenza in Stearns County so far.

As per the reports, the avian influenza has also been confirmed at poultry farms in Pope, Lac qui Parle and Nobles counties. About 343,000 birds have been affected by the virus so far in Minnesota.

New brain-scanning technique could help detect CTE

According to a new study, a brain-scanning technique could help recognize people with a health condition associated with concussions in football and other sports. Deposits of abnormal protein in a pattern similar to that found at autopsy in the disease have been revealed in scans of 14 retired football players at risk for the condition, called chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).

CTE leads to progressive brain degeneration in athletes and others, who have had suffered repeated concussions and other hits to the head. Memory loss, aggression, confusion, depression and progressive dementia are the symptoms of the condition.

Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig effective to help people lose weight and keep it off

According to a new report, millions of Americans choose commercial weight-loss programs in order to shed excessive pounds. But still little scientific evidence is there to show whether these plans can help keep weight off for the long-term.

According to experts, only two out of 32 major commercial weight-loss programs marketed nationwide have scientific evidence to show that their clients maintain weight loss for minimum a year. As per researchers, the two that have evidence are Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig.

iRobot's radio-guided lawnmowers could interfere with Radio Telescopes

Scientists at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory have objected the proposal set by iRobot Corp. for selling lawnmowers guided by radio waves. According to the scientists, machines might interfere with the ultra-sensitive radio telescopes they are using to study the universe.

iRobot is known for its self-guided Roomba vacuum cleaners and bomb-disposal equipment. The company filed a request with the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to use airwaves for robot lawn mowers to be guided wirelessly.

The company filed for permission to market its lawnmower robot as it needs fixed wireless infrastructure to map its route around a lawn. Other robotic lawnmowers typically use hard-wired fences to keep the bots in place.

NASA plans to launch SLS into orbit

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has been planning to launch its Space Launch System (SLS) into orbit. The mission includes a number of science experiments above a low orbit around the earth. The experiments include launching of some nano satellites into space.

The SLS is the space agency's heavy-lift launch rocket, which is the strongest rocket booster system the agency has ever built. Earlier, the system successfully completed a number of ground operations. According to the agency, the SLS is all set to try out its space proficiencies. As per reports, the system could be helpful in taking cargo and many other items to space.
