In February, Google introduced the YouTube Kids mobile app. The app was projected as a safer place for children to view videos as the content was family oriented. The content has been filtered for viewing by children but the app contains lot of advertisements.

But a group of consumer advocates said that the app is full of advertisements and product placements. Therefore, it becomes difficult to differentiate between entertainment and commercials.

In a letter Tuesday, the consumer advocates have asked the Federal Trade Commission to investigate the matter. As per the activists, digital media should follow the same rules as television, where commercial content is limited with regard to kids' programming.

Last month, Blue Bell recalled its ice cream cups made at a production plant in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma owing to concern over listeria contamination. As the listeria scare continues, retail grocery stores across America are pulling Blue Bell products from their shelves.

Latest one to pull the products of Blue Bell is Walmart. Though there is not sufficient evidence that all cartons of ice cream have been contaminated, there is a potential threat which is enough to issue the precautionary recall.

In November, a Chicago Uber driver was accused of sexually assaulting a passenger. But officials told that prosecutors have dropped charges against him.

Sally Daly, a spokeswoman for the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, was of the view that new evidence was presented to prosecutors making them to dismiss the charges against Maxime Fohounhedo.

"This new evidence was thoroughly reviewed and authenticated and after consultation with the complaining witness the charges were dismissed", said Daly.

The Chicago Tribune newspaper reported that the evidence was a video of around nine minutes. The video was recorded by Fohounhedo on his cell phone during the November ride incident. On the video, two can be heard of having a friendly conversation.

Just one week is left to file income tax returns, but according to some reports, people have been facing trouble while submitting electronic tax return. Eric George said that he has been using the same tax preparer for more than two decades. Last month, when his tax preparer submitted his electronic tax return, the IRS replied that there was an error.

According to George, it showed that someone already submitted an electronic return on his behalf. George said that electronic tax return was submitted by using George's taxpayer identification number and his Social Security number. It means that George's identity and filed a tax return was stolen by someone. Currently, IRS was unable to stop bogus returns.

On Monday, shares of media company Viacom declined after the company announced that it has decided to take a $785 million pretax charge as part of reorganization. Shares of Biotechnology Company Clovis Oncology Inc. rose more than 7% after the news that the company's cancer drug has been given 'Breakthrough' status by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

According to Clovis Oncology, the federal agency of the United States Department of Health and Human Services has awarded Breakthrough Therapy designation for rucaparib. The company stated that drug could be helpful in treating advanced ovarian cancer. As per reports, the stock of the company is now up about 3.96 on 49K shares.
