New Delhi, June 17 : The crime branch of the Delhi Police on Tuesday seized heroin worth 17 million rupees from possession of a man who was "wanted" the narcotics branch.

"1700 grams of heroin has been seized from the man. He has been detained under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, (NDPS). He was wanted by the narcotics branch in another case as well. So he has been detained for the previous case and for possession of 1700 grams of heroin this time," said Sanjay Tyagi, ACP, Crime Branch, New Delhi.

Jerusalem - Time was running out to stop Iran's nuclear programme, no matter how the current unrest sweeping the country in wake of Friday's disputed election unfolded, Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak warned Wednesday.

New Delhi, June 17 : Knowledge Commission Chairman Sam Pitroda on Wednesday stressed on the importance of a single regulatory body to decide matters pertaining to higher education.

"I think in higher education what we really need is now some kind of a higher education commission, council, regulatory authority to create level playing field. To have one body deciding everything about education and not have this fragmented silos," noted Pitroda.

Berlin  - German retail group Arcandor widened its insolvency Wednesday, applying for court protection for 15 more subsidiaries - as one of Germany's biggest-ever corporate bankruptcies gathered pace.

Arcandor, which operates mail-order businesses in 28 countries, a chain of 90 Karstadt department stores in Germany and three renowned luxury department stores, was in trouble well before the downturn.

Tampa (Florida), June 17 : The US Central Command Chief, General David Petraeus, has said that Pakistan is fighting for its own survival, as the Pakistan Army continued its offensive against the Taliban and other insurgents in the Malakand and Swat Valley of the North West Frontier Province (NWFP).

Talking to media persons at the Central Command headquarters here, General Petraeus approved of the military offensive against the militants in Pakistan's restive region, and said that the country was engaged in a war which was directly related to its existence.

The application will tell tennis fans exactly where they are in the myriad of grass courts.

Alan Flack from IBM explains further: “By using GPRS and an internal phone compass, your mobile can determine exactly where you are and which court you''re looking at.”
