Scientists Create Psychedelic Pluto, Blotted With Highly Contrasting Colors

Pluto since long has baffled scientists and before July, entire world was unaware of what Pluto actually is. Close flyby made by NASA’s New Horizons helped the entire world to get a closer look at the distant world. It was very difficult for scientists to sequence and separate the different surface features of the dwarf planet, therefore, they created a Pluto which has contrasting colors.

The New Horizons so far has sent images showing the tiny, complex world’s icy plains, mountains, chemical composition and data on its tenuous but complex atmosphere. These new findings by the crafts were revolutionary that changed the previous beliefs about the planet which was thought to be a dead and frozen region of the solar system.

Earth had water since very beginning: Study

The origin of water on earth since long has been main topic of several scientific discussions. Now researchers in a study have presented new evidence of how water actually came on earth.

So far there has been a long list of theories for how water came to earth, but scientists are not sure whether earth formed with water molecules on it or those molecules arrived on earth later.

According to the new study, grains of dust rich in H2O that helped to form the planet were able to hold the liquid water at the time of the birth of earth.

Strange piece of space junk hurtling towards Earth splashes down in Indian Ocean

Scientists said a strange piece of space junk that was noticed hurtling towards Earth around 30 days back splashed down in the Indian Ocean yesterday morning. According to NASA, the space debris, dubbed WT1190F, entered the atmosphere of the Earth, landing off the coast of Sri Lanka.

The object was first spotted on October 3 by scientists and since then they have been tracking the object’s movements so that they could predict when and where it would hit.

NASA spokeswoman Laura Castillo told ABC News today that the object was never a risk for anybody on Earth due to its small size. Castillo said that it landed in the Indian Ocean roughly 50 miles off the coast of Sri Lanka at about 1:15 a.m. Eastern time yesterday.

PSR J0540-6919 is first gamma-ray pulsar found outside Milky Way galaxy

A newly found pulsar, known as PSR J0540-6919, is the first gamma-ray pulsar that has been discovered outside the Milky Way galaxy. NASA's Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope captured the pulsar. It is also the most luminous gamma-ray pulsar ever seen by astronomers.

The pulsar is 163,000 light-years far from our solar system. It is present on the outer edge of the Tarantula Nebula, which is an oft-studied area of the Large Magellanic Cloud, the Milky Way’s tiny satellite galaxy.

Scientists often study the Tarantula Nebula because it is among the closest and most active star-forming areas. Scientists have in fact come to know about this exciting source of gamma rays for some time but have so far misunderstood the source.

Scientists estimate wind speed topping 5,400 mph for exoplanet HD 189733b

Scientists have calculated the speed of the wind on the two sides of the exoplanet and discovered a powerful wind gusting at over 5,400mph from the planet’s day side to the night side.

The wind was twenty times faster as compared to the highest wind speeds that have been ever recorded on the planet Earth.

Researchers detailed the atmosphere of the exoplanet by plotting sodium atoms’ absorption of the host star’s radiation. They are hopeful that these techniques can be helpful in imaging weather systems on Earth-like planets.

They gathered the data using the High Accuracy Radial Velocity Planet Searcher, a telescope in La Silla, Chile.

Survey shows over 2% US Kids Have Been Diagnosed with Autism

It has been known that a high number of cases where kids are diagnosed with autism come forward every year. Now a recent survey has shown that more than 2% of the US kids have been diagnosed with autism in 2014.

Researchers, after analyzing the data of the survey, said that so far, it is the most accurate estimate on autism. They also said that the latest survey was done in a new way in which parents were asked about their kids and any diagnosis of autism.

Lead author Benjamin Zablotsky, an epidemiologist at the National Center for Health Statistics, said, "One in 45 is the most accurate parental report of autism to date. I think this report found that the way we ask parents about autism spectrum disorder can have an impact on the way the parents respond to the question".
