2015 to end up as the Hottest Year on Record: Report

A new report released by the World Meteorological Organization on Wednesday states that this year has the world’s hottest temperature ever recorded. Experts also issued warnings saying that the situation might worsen next year.

WMO director-general Michel Jarraud ahead of the global climate summit which is scheduled to take place next week in Paris suggested creating steps to keep the temperature rise within two degrees Celsius amid the growing industry.

He said the worldwide surface temperature this year has crossed the mark of what the agency called ‘the symbolic and significant milestone’ of one degrees Celsius. This is all because of a combination of a strong El Niño and human-induced global warming, the WMO said in a statement.

Republicans in Congress Attack Obama’s Climate-Change Agenda

It is known that a global climate summit is scheduled to take place in Paris where several countries of the world will sign agreement to combat global warming and climate change. But republicans in Congress are trying to weaken Obama’s position ahead of the summit.

Republicans are majorly targeting on Obama’s administration rules to reduce emission of carbon from power plants. They are even working hard to block federal funds that are meant to support the global efforts meant to stop climate change.

The House has planned to vote next week on couple of measures that would cancel Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rules to cut carbon emissions from power plants. Earlier in mid-November the Senate also voted to cancel the rules.

Almost 17.5% of Tardigrade’s DNA is Foreign, Find Researchers

Researchers studying the weird alien-like worm 'tardigrade 'were shocked to know that 17.5% of the microscopic work-like animal's DNA is foreign. This odd-looking creature is nearly indestructible and can be found almost everywhere on earth.

Researchers said the discovery of foreign DNA in tardigrade's extreme genome is another surprise they have came across in their study of these extreme creatures.

Tardigrades or water bears can be found all everywhere on earth and are characteristically 0.020-inches (0.5 millimetres) long. Water bears can even survive in extremely cold temperature, total dehydration, radiation bombardment, and even the vacuum of deep space.

This is How Astronauts aboard ISS Celebrate Thanksgiving

It’s Thanksgiving time and everyone meets their near and dear ones to thank each other on the occasion. Astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) also celebrated Thanksgiving in their own unique way.

NASA astronauts Scott Kelly and Kjell Lindgren celebrated Thanksgiving on November 26 by taking out some time out from their busy schedule to spend their day watching football. The astronauts also enjoyed a turkey-centric feast at the space station, the agency officials said.

Both the astronauts even sent a special Thanksgiving video this week. The video showed the astronauts breaking out bags of smoked turkey, rehydratable corn, candied yams and potatoes au gratin.

Researchers Find Star Shedding 30 Earthloads of Dust a Year

Brilliant images of 20 million years old star Beta Pictoris have recently been captured by the Hubble Telescope. In the images, a large planet can be seen embedded in the debris disk of the young star. The discovery of the planet was also claimed by the same telescope in 2009. Astronomers have determined that the young star is the only one having both a gigantic planet and debris disk.

Astronomers world over will be able to observe the large amount of motion of the star in matter of a few years because of its short orbital period, which is between 18 to 22 years. This is also the reason researchers have been able to easily study the young star and how deformation of its disk was caused by a huge planet embedded within the disk.
